Alysa Liu Reveals the Details of Her Louis Vuitton Academy Museum Gala Look

The Olympic gold medalist gives WWD a closer look at her custom ensemble.

The 21-year-old figure skating champion traded her skates for sequins at the 2026 Academy Museum Gala in Los Angeles over the weekend, wearing a custom Louis Vuitton black silk crepe two-piece adorned with embroidered anthracite sequins.

The appearance follows a milestone year for Liu, who won gold in both women’s singles and the team event at the 2026 Winter Olympics. The gala gave her a chance to explore a different side of her personal style.

Ahead, Liu shares a few details about her Louis Vuitton look with WWD. See more of the ensemble in the photos above.

“I wanted to wear something that felt like me but at the same time something new, a style I haven’t tried before.”

“My favorite hidden detail is that the skirt has two pockets! A few fun facts I learned about my fit is for the top, 250 hours of work were required to execute the embroidery, and an additional 150 hours to complete it. For the skirt, 420 hours of work were required to execute the embroidery, and an additional 120 hours to complete it!”

“If my look tonight had a soundtrack, it would definitely be Beethoven!”
