Rugged 160W power supply handles -51°F to 140°F with 91% efficiency and IP67 rating

Advanced Energy has launched a 160-watt AC-DC power supply aimed at equipment operating in harsh military and industrial environments.

The DF150 delivers 27 VDC at 6 amps and maintains its rated output across temperatures ranging from -50.8°F to 140°F. The unit also carries MIL-STD certifications covering environmental durability and electromagnetic compatibility.

The product is the first member of Advanced Energy’s Defiant Future series. The company plans the line for applications spanning defense, telecommunications, transportation, industrial equipment, and energy systems.

The DF150 carries MIL-STD-810H certification for environmental conditions that can stress electronic hardware. Its testing covers shock, vibration, altitude changes, and temperature extremes.

An IP67 enclosure rating adds protection against dust and water. The rating also allows the unit to withstand temporary submersion under specified test conditions.

Advanced Energy offers two cooling configurations for the power supply. One uses conduction cooling through a base plate, while another uses convection cooling with a mounted heatsink.

The cooling choice can affect how engineers integrate the supply into a larger system. Conduction cooling can transfer heat into a platform’s structure, while convection relies on airflow around the hardware.

The design also supports different input cable configurations and case colors. These options give equipment manufacturers additional flexibility when adapting the supply to existing hardware layouts.

The DF150 also addresses electromagnetic interference, which can become a significant issue inside densely packed electronic systems.

Advanced Energy says the supply meets MIL-STD-461G requirements across eight specified tests. They include RE102, CE102, CS101, CS114, CS115, CS116, CS118 and RS103.
