Indian PV manufacturer Emmvee has unveiled a TOPCon solar module featuring a four-cut cell design at Renewable Energy India Expo (REI) 2026. The module delivers 640–650 W, 25–30 W more power than conventional half-cut modules of the same dimensions, according to the company. Emmvee also showcased a 2,000 V DC solar module aimed at reducing balance-of-system costs.
The quarter-cut TOPCon module has each solar cell divided into four sections, compared with the two sections used in conventional half-cut modules.
Each section carries one quarter of the module current, reducing resistive losses in the cell interconnections. The module also uses cell overlap, or negative cell placement, to improve space utilisation and increase power output without increasing module dimensions, according to Emmvee.
The module is designed with a lower temperature coefficient. This means the module loses less power as its temperature rises, helping maintain higher power output in hot conditions. The design is also expected to reduce heat generated within the module during operation. Another benefit is the improved performance under shading. The smaller cell sections help limit the area affected by shading and hotspots and thereby allowing the module to maintain approximately 85% performance compared with 75% for conventional modules.
Also, over the longer term, the new module is engineered to retain its power-generating capacity better. 4% annually from the second year onwards. 35% in the corresponding time frame. It is designed to retain the same general electrical specification class as the existing half-cut product, according to Emmvee.
