This week saw the launch of a new free tool called the Carbon Curve Intelligence that tracks different aspects of the carbon dioxide removal (CDR) sector.
Created by Na’im Merchant, Executive Director at Carbon Removal Canada, the tool represents an online dashboard that offers searchable data on CDR deals, projects, policies, and papers from dozens of countries.
On a daily basis, the platform checks about 200 sources plus the research literature and files each item as a dated record with a link back to the original.
“It started as a tool on my own laptop for keeping track of carbon removal: who bought what, which governments advanced policy, and what the research says about each pathway,” Merchant explains in a publication.
“Somewhere along the way I realized it was more useful shared than kept to myself,” he adds.
According to Merchant, this tool can be a valuable resource for anyone interested in doing serious homework on CDR.
The platform can be an asset to a range of stakeholders, including buyers researching suppliers before a deal, investors supporting a company or a CDR pathway, policy players tracking government work, or anyone else looking for details on carbon removal activity.
Launched as a free database, the platform enables users to search through every record, allowing them to save the ones relevant to them. Users can open the dashboard to see updates on new deals, policies, and research while accessing the market charts alongside.
Carbon Curve Intelligence also comes in a Pro version that unlocks deeper analysis.
