iOS 27.3 adds CarPlay redesign for Apple Music, here’s what’s new

iOS 27.3 is packed with new features for iPhone, and it also includes a noteworthy CarPlay change: a redesign of the Apple Music app.

This week Apple introduced the first iOS 27.3 beta, which brings new features for Safari and Apple Health, a one-handed upgrade for iPhone Duo, several Siri AI improvements, and a lot more.

CarPlay also benefits from iOS 27.3 introducing a redesigned Apple Music app.

The new Music app, as seen in images above and below, comes with a variety of changes like a new Liquid Glass tab bar, fresh color scheme, and resizing of several elements.

Apple Music now uses an iOS-style Liquid Glass tab bar in CarPlay. Just like on your iPhone, the new tab bar features icons and text for each tab, and you can slide your finger to move between tabs.

The new tab bar also hovers above content while navigating the app, so it’s always within reach.

The new white background for the app matches that of Apple Music’s redesigned app icon, which was first introduced in iOS 27.2. When dark appearance is active in CarPlay, you’ll get a dark background instead.

Finally, Apple has adjusted the sizing for several elements in the Music app. For me, iOS 27.3 has a denser layout in many places than it did before. In the Library, for example, the app shows more albums and playlists in a single row than it did before.

Your setup may vary based on the size of your in-car display, and whether you have ‘Smart Display Zoom’ enabled.
