Tuesday Labs has opened reservations for Voxel Series-1, a bipedal home robot designed to assist with everyday household tasks, including finding misplaced items. The New York-based robotics lab and design studio is offering reservations for $200, with the robot expected to cost around $20,000 when it launches.
Voxel is designed to navigate indoor spaces and interact with household objects using articulated arms and a vision system. However, the company has not yet provided extensive details about the robot’s practical capabilities, and deliveries are not expected to begin until 2028.
Voxel is a humanoid robot designed to tidy living spaces, find misplaced objects, retrieve items on demand, and perform repetitive chores like watering plants. Production is expected to begin in 2028, with an estimated price of $20,000.
The robot has two arms with seven degrees of freedom and fully actuated wrists, letting it work around doors, shelves, counters, and moving household objects. Its grippers have one actuated degree of freedom for grasping, holding, pulling, and releasing items. The robot also uses Z-shaped articulated legs to approach furniture and shelving closely. At the same time, impact-aware motion models are designed to keep its footsteps as quiet as an adult walking in loafers on wooden floors.
At its heart, Voxel combines robotics engineering with animation-based motion design. Its movements are first created using a 3D model in animation software, after which machine-learning models are trained to reproduce them in real-world conditions.
The approach allows the robot to follow a consistent gait while accounting for gravity, changes in floor inclination, unexpected pushes, and trips.
