We’re using our in-house robot to open and close the iPhone Duo hundreds of thousands of times. Watch along and get your questions answered by CNET editors live.
The iPhone Duo wowed us as Apple’s first foldable phone, but it’s time to test out how its first-gen hinge holds up. We’re now testing the $1,999 iPhone Duo using our custom-made folding machine, the Fold-a-Phone, which has been diligently opening and closing the phone since we bought the Duo on Friday.

CNET is livestreaming our iPhone Duo long-term folding test on our YouTube channel, which you can watch embedded here. Our robust in-house machine will open and close the foldable around 20,000 times per day to simulate years of wear and tear on the hinge. You’ll be able to watch this testing on a livestream from our CNET Labs location in Louisville, Kentucky.
The livestream won’t just be for watching a phone open and close — you’ll also be able to chat with CNET editors who will be available to answer your iPhone Duo questions live in the chat. Will Apple’s first foldable live up to the likes of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Google Pixel 11 Pro Fold? Will its neat opening animation remain slick over thousands of folds? Join us and find out.
This long-term test will join our iPhone Duo review , which provides a snapshot of what it’s like to be among the first to use Apple’s first foldable phone.
