Telangana IT Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu on Friday said Gen Z would drive the next wave of artificial intelligence (AI) and green innovation, urging young people to use technology to solve real-world challenges.
He was speaking at the inauguration of the Green Skills & Applied AI Centre of Excellence at SAS iTower in Hyderabad, established by the Telangana government in partnership with Microsoft, 1M1B and MeitY Startup Hub. The launch saw 100 job offers announced through 1M1B Jobs Express.
“Gen Z will drive the next wave of AI and green innovation. I urge young people to use their skills not just to create successful enterprises, but to solve real-world challenges,” Sridhar Babu said, stressing the need to make sustainability an integral part of Telangana's economic growth.
The centre will provide hands-on training in Applied AI, Green Pharma, solar energy, electric vehicles and wind energy. It will also connect graduates with industry mentors, internships and employment opportunities, with a dedicated focus on Green Pharma.
Rajiv Kumar, Managing Director and President of Microsoft India Development Centre, said AI and the climate transition were reshaping industries, and young people should have opportunities to shape that transformation.
“The Green Skills & Applied AI Centre of Excellence in Hyderabad will give them practical AI and green skills, real sustainability challenges to solve, including in Green Pharma, and clear pathways into internships, jobs and new opportunities,” he said.
Eight memoranda of understanding were signed between 1M1B and industry partners — WindStream Energy Technologies, SCL Lifesciences, Emball’ISO India Packaging, Vimta Labs, Knowvation Learnings, CIEL HR Services, Arah Infotech and MSys Inc.
