Supernatural made a name for itself as the de facto workout app through the COVID era and beyond, and is coming back from the grave as an independent app, starting today.
Workout trends often come and go like the wind, but a few staples hang around long enough to be properly cemented into the “this really works” category. Supernatural is one such example. The VR workout app debuted on April 23, 2020, making it the best way to get a gym-like workout in a world where all the gyms were shut down during the pandemic. Lots of people used it and continued to use it until earlier this year, when Meta closed the studio that made it.
People were devastated. The entire Supernatural community on Facebook was up in arms. But it wasn’t long until Supernatural’s founders announced that they had acquired the rights and would be returning later in 2026 as an independent company, and today is that day.
Supernatural Early Access is officially launching today, October 21, on Meta’s storefront. You can get a free 7-day trial by downloading the app, and then it’s $20 per month after that. An extended 14-day free trial is available to folks who sign up for the $200/year plan, which grants a $40 annual discount by paying up front.
If you haven’t used Supernatural before, you’re about to be very pleasantly surprised. The game features daily coach-led workouts with popular music you’ll love to work out to. Gamers move their bodies around to the beat, smashing flying obstacles with bats, ducking, kicking, and generally getting very sweaty.
