Bing's AI Performance report adds a view that sorts cited queries into topics and lists queries where other sites are cited but your site isn't.
Microsoft announced a beta feature called Topics Portfolio inside the AI Performance report in Bing Webmaster Tools. It groups the queries your site is cited for in AI answers into broader topics and lists queries in those topics where other sites appear and yours doesn’t.
Bing calls those grounding queries, which are the search terms that Bing’s AI uses to locate content (and cite) in its answers using both Copilot and Bing’s AI summary along with select partner integrations. The new view will only show up if Bing has enough data on your website. Topics with too little site presence or ecosystem activity won’t be displayed by Bing, therefore smaller websites might get fewer items listed or possibly not see this feature at all.
Topics Portfolio resides within a new tab to the right of Citations & Pages in the AI Performance section. The first screen of Topics Portfolio provides you with topics where the company refers to your site as having a “meaningful” presence. Three metrics accompany each listed topic.
The Topic Size metric represents an estimated total citation count across all sites for the topic during the time frame you have specified; this is described by the company as a way to gauge demand for searches through their AI. Sites Cited indicates the approximate number of sites that appear for queries in the topic.
