‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Sentinels Are Coming Home in a Very Big Way

Sentinels are kind of Marvel’s answer to Godzilla. They’re towering, killer creations meant to wreak havoc against whatever heroes dare to oppose them. Plus, each one is so big that they can make those heroes look like insects. So, when there’s a collectible version of a Sentinel coming, it has to convey some of that scale, and Hot Toys’ latest does just that.

The high-end collectible brand just revealed its Sentinel from the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday. We’ve seen them in the trailers, as Doctor Doom himself pits the giant robots against Marvel’s best. And to capture some of that terrifying size, the figure is almost two feet tall (23.6,” or 60 cm, to be precise). Here are a few images.

Here’s the wild part, and it comes with both good news and bad. The good news is the Sentinel only (LOL, “only”) costs $330. That’s cheaper than some of the other recent Avengers: Doomsday Hot Toys that have been announced. How is it possible that a figure double the size of a traditional Hot Toys figure doesn’t cost double the price?

Well, that’s the bad news. While the photos make it clear that the figure looks like it has all the impressive visuals of a traditional Hot Toys release on the outside, and it does, the inside is different. It’s made out of vinyl, meaning it’s not quite as dense and substantive as its counterparts. Also, the Doctor Doom miniature in the photos (which comes with the Sentinel) isn’t the sixth-scale Doctor Doom .
