Apple AirPods Max 2 Are $100 Off Ahead of Black Friday

Apple makes some of the best headphones on the market. I almost never want to pay full price for them, though. Here at WIRED, we spend a lot of time testing Apple gear and tracking prices, so we know when it’s a smart time to buy and when it’s best to wait.

Right now, Apple AirPods Max 2 are $100 off on Amazon. If you prefer wireless earbuds, the Apple AirPods Pro 3 are also $49 off. We’ve seen both products go for a bit less, and they are likely to drop further for Black Friday. But if you've been eyeing Apple's headphones for a while, and need them sooner than late November, now is a good time to buy.

For more of our Apple recommendations, check out our guides to the Best Apple Watches, iPhones, and iPads.

The AirPods Max 2 are the best-sounding headphones for Apple loyalists. I have been testing them for about three months now, and they have become my favorite headphones for travel. They unfortunately can’t prevent airplane ear, but their plush over-ear cuffs feel way more comfortable than cramming buds into my ear canals for hours on end. The headphones deliver up to 1.5 times more automated noise-canceling (ANC) performance than the previous version, support lossless audio, and can be plugged in via USB-C for ultra-low latency audio.

This sale applies to all five colorways (midnight, blue, orange, purple, and starlight). I’ve seen the AirPods Max 2 go for cheaper, but $449 is still a good deal.
