The platform's own talent data shows startups building on social media expertise and community growth are now recruiting from top-tier employers at the same rate as AI infrastructure companies.
LinkedIn published its tenth annual Top Startups list on 14 October 2026, ranking 50 emerging US companies by employment growth, jobseeker interest, engagement and their ability to pull talent away from established employers. What the list actually reveals is more instructive than the rankings themselves: creator-led growth is now a core part of the startup playbook, with MrBeast-founded Feastables at number 12 alongside creator-focused platforms like Higgsfield AI and ElevenLabs, while brands like Fora Travel (number 9), Comfrt (number 15) and Vacation Inc. (number 26) have grown customer bases through creators and online communities without traditional advertising.
For social media marketers, this is the signal that matters. LinkedIn's methodology does not measure hype or funding rounds. It tracks four pillars: employment growth (minimum 5% headcount increase), engagement (page views and follows), job interest (application rates), and attraction of top talent from LinkedIn Top Companies, with data covering July 2025 through June 2026. When a platform built on professional credibility puts creator-led brands in the same tier as AI infrastructure companies, the implication is clear: social media expertise is no longer a marketing function to be hired later. It is foundational infrastructure.
