LinkedIn now handles booking, payment and video calls for paid consultations inside a single platform, collapsing the Calendly-Stripe-Zoom workflow that has defined professional services infrastructure since 2020.
On 15 October, LinkedIn unveiled a slew of updates for its platform, but one stands out for what it makes obsolete. Advice Sessions lets professional influencers schedule and conduct paid consultations directly from the LinkedIn app, turning the profile from a static CV into transactional infrastructure. Advice Sessions is currently available in the US for subscribers to LinkedIn's Business Premium tier, which unlocks a number of perks in exchange for a $59.99-per-month fee.
The feature wires consultation directly into discovery. For freelancers, consultants and solopreneurs, LinkedIn now handles booking, payment and video calls inside a single platform, removing the Calendly-plus-Stripe-plus-Zoom stack that has been standard for paid consulting workflows since 2020. It solves the handoff problem: the moment when someone who found you on LinkedIn has to click out to a scheduling page, then to payment, then to a video link, with conversion dropping at each step.
The hosts of Advice Sessions can book time with clients within a 30-day window and accept payments for their consulting via Stripe, which is integrated into LinkedIn profiles. That means the platform now sits between expertise and payment in a way it never has before.
