M&A: Ellipsis Health Acquires Kouper Health to Unify Vocal Empathy with Native EHR Navigation

Conversational health AI leader Ellipsis Health officially announced the strategic acquisition of Kouper Health , an AI care navigation company specializing in native electronic health record (EHR) integrations and longitudinal patient tracking.

The transaction unifies Ellipsis’s emotionally intelligent voice AI care manager, Sage, with Kouper’s clinical workflow agents and unified patient maps to shift care delivery from disconnected, episodic encounters into continuous, longitudinal support.

The deal addresses a major systemic adoption bottleneck: while 75% of U.S. health systems have now deployed at least one artificial intelligence solution (surging from 59% in 2025), frontline clinical workforce capacity remains severely constrained.

Kouper Health , founded in 2022, brings institutional venture backing from premier corporate and healthcare investors, including CVS Health Ventures, General Catalyst, and 25madison.

The Empathy Engine Acoustic Intelligence: Sage is built on Ellipsis Health’s patented vocal biomarker and conversational AI engine, trained on more than 3 million clinically labeled patient interactions. Operating across telephony and conversational SMS channels, the system analyzes real-time speech acoustics, prosody, and linguistic patterns to detect clinical distress, cognitive burden, and behavioral health deterioration.
