As confirmed during today’s Nintendo Indie World showcase, the long-awaited Witchbrook finally has a release date of January 28, bringing the near decade-long wait to an end.
If you asked someone what the most-anticipated indie game on the horizon is, chances are that they’re going to say Haunted Chocolatier or Silksong’s Sea of Sorrow DLC. If they’ve got slightly more taste, though, they’ll say Witchbrook, the witch life sim that was announced all the way back in 2017 under the name Spellbrook.
It’s been a long road for the game since then, including being retitled to Witchbrook in 2018, but we’ve been very close to a release date in recent times. After being delayed indefinitely following a previous release window of Winter 2025, a proper release date has just been confirmed during the Indie World showcase.
Today’s Indie World showcase had a ton of announcements, but I don’t think anyone would argue that the long-awaited release date of Witchbrook wasn’t the highlight. The new trailer was shown right at the start of the showcase and gave us our best look at the game so far with nearly two minutes of gameplay.
Honestly, I don’t know why this wasn’t the closer of the whole show, as it’s definitely big enough to save for last.
All of the games shown during the latest Indie World and their release dates, if they have them.
As great as seeing more of Witchbrook was, though, the true mic drop moment came at the end, when it was confirmed that the game will be released on January 28, 2027 for all platforms, which of course includes the Switch .
