Mass Effect composer wants to rescore leaked internal ME Universe trailer to "properly represent my musical vision"

Mass Effect trilogy composer Sam Hulick has expressed his intent to rescore the tantalising trailer for BioWare's cancelled Mass Effect Universe for N7 day.

Hulick shared this plan on X, writing: "Alright. My plan is to release the re-scored Mass Effect Universe trailer for N7 Day. A little tight, since I'm a bit busy pitching for a new game, but I'll see what I can do! I don't wanna rush it, and I want it to properly represent my musical vision for MEU."

The Mass Effect Universe trailer, released last week, was intended for EA and BioWare management to indicate what the now cancelled fifth Mass Effect game would be like. As such, the music and assets were not meant to be seen by the public, hence the rescore.

And it turns out that Hulick isn't the only musically-minded person to plan on releasing some Mass Effect Universe music. Prolific composer Austin Wintory - known for his work on Sword of the Sea, Journey, and Hades 2 - posted 20 minutes of music he shared with BioWare staff back in 2025 in the hopes of working on Mass Effect Universe.

Wintory and Hulick join many who decried the closure of BioWare last week , which impacted 50 employees there, and were a part of wider restructuring that affected hundreds of other people elsewhere in EA . This came only a few months after EA's acquisition by Saudi Arabia's Savvy Games Group and Jared Kushner's private equity firm .
