Last week, Wizards of the Coast revealed that Magic: The Gathering’s next Marvel steps will be welcome and unexpected ones. While yes, we will be getting more Marvel via Universes Beyond to kick off 2027, Darkhold Destiny will be quite a bit different from anything MTG has done with Marvel before.
Previously, the driving force behind Marvel x MTG has been figuring out how to make MTG feel more like Marvel. Darkhold Destiny will seemingly do the exact opposite. Not only will the set be rooted in an entirely original storyline, but it will also include an all-new Marvel character that’s set to debut in the comics in early 2027.
It’s a potentially fantastic way to help stem some of the predictability and fatigue that has been creeping into MTG’s continued UB push, and now everything from the Darkhold Destiny set is available to pre-order on Amazon. First and foremost, that includes the Commander Decks, giving us a better idea of which heroes and villains will be taking the lead for this upcoming expansion.
The Commander Decks are fronted by Blade, Thor, Dr. Strange, and Hela, with each character epitomising the theme of their corresponding deck. The decks cost $74.99 each, or you can buy a bundle that includes all four for $299.96. No discount, as that’s exactly what they’d cost if you bought them individually. There’s also a Collector’s Edition bundle for $639.96 where every single card has a surge foil treatment.
Other characters have now been confirmed to be a part of the Darkhold Destiny arc thanks to various other items now up for pre-order.
