VisionQuest’s Latest Episode Has a Wild Marvel Cameo

Marvel projects are often full of Easter eggs for eagle-eyed fans, and Disney Plus' VisionQuest is no exception. The most recent batch of episodes included the surprising return of the MCU's very first villain, but it turns out that wasn't the only cameo. In a blink-and-you'll-miss-it moment, The Watcher makes his latest appearance.

I wouldn't blame you if you missed it when watching the sixth episode, "Deadlock," as the cameo only lasts for a second (specifically at 32:41). During the showdown between Vision and Raza Hamidmi al-Wazar, the mysterious Client intervenes, speaking through a collection of televisions in a window display. During this shot, the silhouette and glowing eyes of The Watcher can be seen in the doorway to the right of the screen. Showrunner Terry Matalas confirmed the cameo in a cheeky post on X that simply said, "Good eye. Or ... eyes."

In the comics, the Watchers are a species that act as the record keepers of the universe's history. The group's most famous member, Uatu, has had a number of appearances in the MCU, beginning in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. He served as the narrator of the animated series What If...? and also popped up in X-Men '97 and Daredevil: Born Again. While Uatu is sworn not to intervene in the affairs of Earth, his appearance in VisionQuest could have dangerous implications.

The season 1 What If ... Ultron Won? " is set in an alternate reality where Ultron becomes aware of The Watcher's presence, setting off a fight across the multiverse.
