The Most Unplayable Games By Rockstar, Ranked

Rockstar Games has been around for nearly three decades, and in that time, the developer and publisher has grown into one of the biggest names in the gaming industry. Iconic Rockstar franchises like Grand Theft Auto, Red Dead, and even one-off hits like Bully have become some of the most beloved games of all time, but there are a few outliers that don't hold up as well as one might recall.

Some of the best Rockstar games of all time are a decade or two old, so just because a game is older doesn't mean it's unplayable. However, some titles on the Rockstar roster simply struggle to stand the test of time in the way that games like Bully and GTA 4 have. Granted, these games are still important, but the following list might be better appreciated as a fond memory instead of as games worth booting back up again.

The criteria for this list were based on overall story and mechanics. Rockstar has built a solid reputation for nailing both, and while many of these games were influential, other games from the developer have raised the bar much higher.

A. Noire is one of my favorite games from my teen years. A slow-burn 1940s detective story set in a crime-riddled and quickly expanding Los Angeles is still a fantastic premise for a game. A. Noire 's development, but Rockstar played a role in assisting beyond simply publishing the game.
