The MCU has expanded significantly since the Avengers last took the screen in Avengers: Endgame. Shang-Chi, Moon Knight, Namor, the Eternals, and The Fantastic Four have all joined the franchise, while the multiverse has opened the door for familiar faces from Fox's X-Men films, the Blade movies, and several different Spider-Men. However, movie-only MCU fans might not realize that one of the most recent arrivals is a lot more important than it seems.
Franklin Richards, the son of Reed Richards and Susan Storm, made his debut in Fantastic Four: The First Steps. His screentime has been brief, but his arrival could have enormous consequences for the future. In the comics, his abilities are far greater than simply superhuman speed or strength; he's created entire universes, and his future in the MCU is potentially limitless, just like his powers.
The Multiverse Saga's ending may be in sight, but Marvel Studios has confirmed the multiverse itself isn't going anywhere.
In Marvel Comics, Franklin Richards was originally an omega-level mutant with reality-warping powers, who could reshape matter, create pocket dimensions, and alter existence itself. While most superheroes develop their powers through years of training or discover their limits through dangerous battles, Franklin was gifted from a very young age. Marvel later retconned his mutant status, revealing that Franklin had altered the cells of his body to make himself appear to be one. That change affected how his powers were explained, but did little to diminish just how extraordinary they were.
