The Legend of Zelda: The Glass of Fate has been officially announced for release next year, giving fans something unique to look forward to. This new Zelda release is intended as a sequel to Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask, taking players back to the Nintendo 64 era.
Now over 40 years old, the Zelda franchise remains a key part of Nintendo's portfolio. The series features some of the most critically acclaimed titles of all time, which is why it has maintained such impressive longevity. When compared to most long-running franchises, The Legend of Zelda has never really had a period of struggles with worse-received titles - it's been consistent quality across the board.
Major changes have been made to the beloved Nintendo title, but no change is as big as the added voice-acted important cutscenes and key characters.
The Legend of Zelda: The Glass of Fate is a new fan game being developed by Justice 2 Free, with Chapter 1 planned to launch in February 2027. It's being made as a sequel to Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask, featuring the retro Nintendo 64-style graphics that many fans of the series hold deep nostalgia for. But despite this, Zelda: The Glass of Fate is actually not planned for release on N64 or as a ROM hack for either title. Instead, it's being developed in Godot as a standalone release on Android, iOS, Mac, and PC.
The trailer for the game looks awesome, showing Link accepting the call to adventure as he becomes known as the Cursed Hero.
