We only have a little more than six months until The Legend of Zelda movie is released in theaters. That’s provided everything goes to plan, and fans of the franchise are starting to worry that all might not be well with the project due to recent developments, or in some cases, a lack of them.
The latest development that has Zelda fans questioning whether the movie will be delayed or outright canceled is the creation, and then deletion, of its Instagram account. An official account for The Legend of Zelda movie was created earlier this month. However, as spotted by Zelda Updates on Twitter, that account has already either been deleted or deactivated.
The official account that has disappeared is not the unofficial tlozmovie account that remains active.
The curious case of the disappearing Instagram account, combined with the little we have been shown of and told about the movie, now has fans fearing the worst. Some are speculating that the movie might have been delayed past its April 30, 2027, release date, while others are questioning whether the project may have been scrapped entirely.
Even though the film is only six months away, we still know surprisingly little about it. We were told that Benjamin Ainsworth and Bo Bragason will play Link and Zelda a long time ago, and then Nintendo confirmed that the movie will simply be titled The Legend of Zelda during the franchise’s 40th anniversary Direct earlier this year.
Shigeru Miyamoto promised that the reason for choosing a title that doesn’t focus on any specific Zelda game will become clear when we see the movie.
