Grab your nearest forklift operator and make sure they're sitting down. Shenmue 3: Enhanced Edition has been delayed to 2027 in order to, as publisher Inin Games puts it, "get everything right".
"We're well aware that you're eagerly awaiting the chance to see Ryo shine like never before, for the first time on several modern consoles," Inin wrote in a newsletter update (thanks Shenmue Dojo). "Development is taking time to get everything right, and we’re making great progress while finalising the last details."
Shenmue 3: Enhanced Edition was originally expected to arrive in "Q4" this year, but Inin now says, "We'll have more details to share with you soon and are looking forward to this release in early 2027!" It'll be available on PC, PS5, Switch 2, and Xbox Series X/S, Switch 2.
Shenmue 3: Enhanced Edition promises visual improvements to Ys Net's 2019 original, alongside quality-of-life changes, and performance boosts made possible by the modern hardware it'll be playable on. There's also talk of DLSS/FSR support, more NPC density within Niaowu, and a classic camera mode inspired by Shenmue and Shenmue 2.
The Enhanced Edition was first revealed in August 2025 , and stands as a second shot for the divisive third entry in the legendary Dreamcast series.
