Jason Schreier has reached out to The Elder Scrolls fans to both clarify and double down on his report that said Sentinel is still more than two years away.
Earlier this week, Bethesda finally decided to chuck a bone to the incredibly patient Elder Scrolls community by giving us our first proper update on The Elder Scrolls 6 in the eight years since it was originally revealed. The new trailer confirmed that TES 6 is subtitled Sentinel and take place in Hammerfell, as we all assumed.
Considering how long it’s been since we’ve learned anything concrete about The Elder Scrolls 6, a lot of fans took it as a sign that the game’s release wasn’t as far off as it seemed. Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier quickly dashed those hopes with a report claiming Sentinel was still more than two years away, which caused such a fuss that he’s since reached out to the fanbase.
Although the use of another short CGI trailer should have made it pretty obvious that Sentinel is nowhere near being done, the starving Elder Scrolls community didn’t take kindly to being told that there was still a long way to go. A quick look at the subreddit shows just how many people thought a 2027 release was on the cards before being told otherwise.
The Elder Scrolls 6 looked poised for a cross-platform launch, but with Xbox embracing exclusives again, things aren't so certain.
The claim upset so many TES fans and caused such a backlash that Schreier has responded by sharing a post on The Elder Scrolls 6 subreddit that doubles down on and defends his report .
