The Elder Scrolls 6 finally has a name, Sentinel, and that means we're headed back to Hammerfell, which has some interesting implications if you know anything about Daggerfall.
If you don't, it's a perfect excuse for me to infodump about my favorite Elder Scrolls lore: The Warp in the West, a Dragon Break that shattered linear time and caused all realities to coalesce into one - a beautifully convoluted way of making every single ending canon. One of which created an anti-magic zone several miles wide, and fans are hoping Bethesda hasn't forgotten about it.
"As we all already knew for years now, [6] is going to be in Hammerfell," Reddit user u/Sanguine_Worm posted to the r/teslore subreddit. "Now that it's been confirmed, I wonder if they're going to address the anti-magic field in Iliac Bay or if it's going to be handwaved away. I know some sources claimed it was temporary, but that was never confirmed or for how long. I feel like they'd be missing a cool gameplay opportunity by ignoring something like [that] and maybe how it affected society in those regions."
It wouldn't be the first time that Bethesda has tackled the aftermath of the Warp in the West; in Oblivion, we meet both Mannimarco, the mortal, and Mannimarco, the God of Necromancy. Well, meet is a little bit of a stretch—we commune with the god, or the Necromancer's Moon, to create a black soul gem.
The Elder Scrolls 6 looked poised for a cross-platform launch, but with Xbox embracing exclusives again, things aren't so certain.
