Terminally Ill GTA 6 Fan Dies 3 Weeks Before Game's Launch, Fans Pay Their Respects

A terminally ill GTA 6 fan has died three weeks before the game's launch.

Back in August, a man named Jerry, known online as Void Only, made a viral TikTok video revealing that he had been hospitalized due to an interstitial lung disease and was in need of a lung transplant. However, he noted that his unique situation meant that his lungs were attached to his chest wall, and any surgery would be bloody and dangerous. In that same post, he noted that he just wanted to play GTA 6, and poked fun at Rockstar's many delays for the game. In the comments, fellow players rallied around him and were rooting for him to keep going until the release of GTA 6.

A GoFundMe was set up to pay for his transplant and other needs, with supporters donating $50,000 in a matter of days. In September, Jerry got his transplant, but various complications eventually caused him to lose function of his body. Jerry's sister confirmed via his socials that he died over the weekend, but was extremely appreciative of all of the people who tried to help and support him. The news comes just three weeks before GTA 6's release, which Jerry had planned to stream with his community once it was released.

In the comments of his sister's post, fans expressed sadness over Jerry not being able to make it to the release of the game he'd been excitedly waiting so long to play.
