Steam is giving PC gamers another opportunity to expand their libraries without spending any money, with two more free-to-keep games confirmed for October 2026. Valve's digital storefront regularly features promotions and discounts, but Steam's free-to-keep offers are particularly appealing because players can permanently add games to their accounts without purchasing them.
October has been a particularly interesting month for Steam users looking for new games, especially with Halloween approaching and plenty of horror-themed releases getting attention. However, not every giveaway has to be a major AAA game to be worth checking out. Steam's smaller indie releases often offer some surprisingly good experiences, and many have earned excellent reviews from players over the years. The latest free-to-keep offerings are a good example, with one focusing on psychological horror and the other offering a much more relaxing puzzle experience.
Spooky season fans have a fresh cozy witchcraft game to dive into on Steam, with the title already earning 90% positive reviews.
Steam has confirmed two last new free-to-keep games for October 2026: Asleep: Act 1 and Hexologic. Unlike Steam's Free Weekend Promotions, these games won't disappear from a player's account once the promotion ends; they can be permanently kept forever. Right now, it's uncertain when these free PC games will go live on the storefront, but fans should check their Steam pages daily until then to be sure to grab them:
Asleep: Act 1 is probably the more interesting of the two for horror fans, particularly with Halloween just around the corner.
