Star Wars: Galactic Racer has received countless praises since its release, making for one of the highest-rated games in the franchise since the early 2000s. While the exhilarating speeds and gameplay loop certainly help, Galactic Racer has also been making the rounds for causing fans to rethink what they know about the series.
Putting aside the countless discussions surrounding Star Wars' quirky new alien, the plot of Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace has been coming under some more scrutiny with Galactic Racer, but more specifically putting a spotlight on Qui-Gon Jinn's decisions.
As noted by numerous players, most recently by thrawnadelrey on X, it seems utterly absurd that Qui-Gon Jinn thought letting a 9-year-old Anakin Skywalker participate in the Tatooine podraces, let alone even getting "behind the wheel of one of these monstrosities," while saying "Darth Maul was a saint" for stopping him.
On top of flaming the Jedi Master, other players have pointed out that it was probably the exact turning point that made Qui-Gon realize Anakin was the chosen one in the first place, as no normal child could have ever survived the incredibly deadly ordeal without having some kind of supernatural powers.
Other fans have also pointed out that the worst part about the Jedi Council member's decision to risk a child's life on a gamble was supposedly a better alternative to simply stealing from the Slave Master in the first place, making the Jedi's already heavily criticized moral standards even more dubious.
Even putting Anakin aside, after watching The Phantom Menace and playing Galactic Racer, it's no wonder why Podracing was outlawed by the Galactic Empire in the first place, with a death toll that is more than a little concerning for the time.
