Sentinels sign OXY on day one of free agency after Cloud9 miss out on a VCT partnership

Sentinels signed former Cloud9 star duelist Francis "OXY" Hoang on November 2, the day the VCT off-season transfer window opened. Cloud9's lack of a partnership slot freed OXY to join a partnered team that still has one roster spot to fill.

Sentinels opened free agency with a headline move. The club signed Francis “OXY” Hoang on the first day of the VCT off-season transfer window. The former Cloud9 duelist is the opening piece of its 2027 rebuild. The signing confirms weeks of reports linking him to the organization.

The deal grew out of the league’s partnership decisions. Cloud9 was left without a slot for the new cycle. Among the eight Americas partners for 2027–2028 is Sentinels. That combination sent one of Cloud9’s star players to a partnered rival on day one.

Riot Games chose 32 partner organizations for 2027, eight in each of the Americas, EMEA, Pacific and China. More than 100 teams submitted interest. Partnerships run in renewable two-year cycles. Partner teams also receive annual financial support.

A slot does not guarantee international play. Partners qualify directly for VCT Kickoff. After that, they must earn places at Cups, Masters and Champions through results. They compete for those places against teams that come through Open Qualifiers.

For OXY, Sentinels offered both a partnered team and a vacant role. He takes over the duelist position. The club had cleared that space only days earlier.

The rebuild began on October 30. Sentinels announced that Jerrwin and JonahP were leaving, its first roster changes of the off-season.
