Ratchet & Clank Game Shutting Down Before Ever Fully Launching

Sony Interactive Entertainment and French developer Oh BiBi have announced Ratchet & Clank: Ranger Rumble, a phone and tablet game, is coming to a close before it was even released fully.

In a statement, the developers said the game's final update is coming today, November 6, and the game itself will be removed from digital stores on November 21, 2026.

No information was provided as to why Ranger Rumble is shutting down. The game soft-launched in 2025 in limited territories, and expanded to more markets, but it's no longer going ahead with a full global release.

People who already have the game installed can keep playing until May 1, 2027, which is when the game's servers permanently close. Once the servers are shut down, the game will be completely unplayable.

Ranger Rumble is described as a "fast-paced multiplayer platformer arena shooter" where you battle others on a quest to become a galactic ranger.

In-app purchases have been removed from Ranger Rumble, and if you have a balance of currency, you should spend it before May 1, 2027. Alternatively, you can seek a refund from Apple’s App Store or Google Play.

"On behalf of the dev team and everyone helping to make the game, thanks to our amazing community for all your support, especially to those who have spent time playing, sharing feedback, and helping shape Ranger Rumble throughout its development," the developer said.

The latest entry in the mainline Ratchet & Clank series was 2021's Rift Apart. Its developer, Insomniac Games, has focused on Marvel properties more recently, releasing Marvel's Spider-Man 2 in 2023 and Marvel's Wolverine this year.
