PlayStation Plus' Essential tier (oftentimes known as the free game tier) has announced not one, not two, not three, but four new games on September 1, adding even more playable games to an otherwise packed line-up. PS Plus Extra has already confirmed Runescape: DragonWilds as a day one game, for example, but also September has a ton of paid, premium games releasing. Between those and these new PS Plus games, PS4 and PS5 owners have plenty to keep them entertained.
As always, PS Plus subscribers still have some time to grab the PS Plus free games for August 2026, which include Dying Light 2 Stay Human, Big Walk, and Signalis. The former is an open-world zombie game (now with guns vs. its melee-focused launch), Big Walk is an open-world co-op game, and Signalis is an old-school survival-horror game. It's worth noting, for PS Plus Extra and Premium subscribers, that Dying Light 2 was also added to that tier for August 2026. In other words, Essential subscribers should claim it to keep forever, but higher tiers—if they haven't yet—have time to play it all the same.
