Prime Video's Fallout reality competition Fallout Shelter: The Experiment premieres in January

Prime Video's Fallout reality competition, Fallout Shelter: The Experiment, will premiere on 13th January 2027.

According to Prime Video's announcement on Fallout Day, 23rd October, the first four episodes will arrive on launch day, with the rest following weekly. It will be available in more than 240 countries and territories.

The unscripted series sees everyday participants test their aptitude for the apocalypse inside Vault-Tec's bomb-proof vault shelters, facing head-to-head drills, psychological dilemmas, and morally challenging trials. The one "dweller" who emerges as the winner will take home $1m.

"The world is ending," a short cinematic teases. "The competition is just beginning." It then cuts to "Fallout Shelter: The Experiment."

Good morning, future Vault Dwellers! Please Stand By for an important announcement.

It's produced by Studio Lambert - the company behind The Traitors, The Circle, and Squid Game: The Challenge - in co-production with Kilter Films, the production company of Fallout TV series creators Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy.

Bethesda Game Studios is involved in association, with Todd Howard and James Altman among the executive producers.

Season two of Amazon's live-action Fallout adaptation may have been divisive, but that didn't stop it earning another round of nominations at this year's prestigious Emmy Awards. In total, Fallout's second TV outing was nominated in nine categories, but failed to bring any awards home on the night.
