One Piece's New God Fruit Replaces Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika

Monkey D. Luffy's Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika, took him to god status in chapter 1044, released officially on March 28, 2022, in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump Issue #17. In this chapter, it was officially confirmed to us that this Devil Fruit was not actually Gomu Gomu no Mi, but a Mythical Zoan that grants the power to transform into the Sun God Nika. Following its awakening, the true power of the Devil Fruit was brought forth, and Luffy was able to defeat Kaido with its abilities.

Up until now, Luffy's Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika, has stood as the mightiest Zoan Devil Fruit that we have seen, but One Piece's Elbaf arc climax has changed that. In One Piece chapter 1193, released officially on September 13, 2026, in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump Double Issue #42-43, Loki finally took to using his Ryu Ryu no Mi, Model: Nidhoggr hybrid form. As Luffy's Gear 5 ran out of steam, Loki has officially outlasted him in battle, and as things stand, he is the new strongest God Fruit user in One Piece, replacing Luffy's Nika.

Loki was introduced to us at the very beginning of the Elbaf arc, and with time, his influence in the story has only continued to grow. Nearly all the giants present in Elbaf hyped up Loki's strength to be absolutely monstrous, but it wasn't until the flashback of One Piece's Elbaf arc began that his strength was truly shown to us. In this flashback, Loki ended up consuming the power of the Ryu Ryu no Mi, Model: Nidhoggr, in chapter 1170, which was officially released on January 5, 2026, in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump Double Issue #6-7.
