One Piece Permanently Removes Shanks' Status As The Strongest Haki User

Haki has largely dominated the vast majority of the battles that have taken place in the second half of One Piece. It has established itself as one of the most important abilities on the seas, ever since its proper explanation in One Piece chapter 597, which was released on August 30, 2010, in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump Issue 39.

For a very long time, Red-Haired Shanks, the Yonko and Captain of the Red Hair Pirates, was considered to be the mightiest Haki user alive, but the Elbaf arc officially changes that forever. In this arc, Eiichiro Oda, the creator of the series, has permanently removed Shanks' status as the strongest Haki user with the proper introduction of Nerona Imu, the King of the World, who holds Haki so powerful that it has been described as preposterous on many occasions.

The power of Red-Haired Shanks' Haki is nothing short of impressive. Shanks first used Haki in One Piece Chapter 1 on July 18, 1997, in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump Issue 34. Back then, however, nobody knew this power to be Haki. Shanks' Haki was then focused on when he met Whitebeard in One Piece Chapter 434 on November 13, 2006, released in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump Issue 50. In this chapter, Whitebeard and Marco, alongside Jozu, all commented on Shanks' powerful Haki. In fact, Whitebeard himself paid a compliment to Shanks' Haki, which goes to show that his overall strength isn't for show.

Shanks: You'll have to excuse me.
