Jeremy Renner Says The Avengers Will Lose in Doomsday and It's 'Their Fault' Because They 'Didn't Call' Hawkeye

Marvel star Jeremy Renner said the Avengers will lose in Doomsday, and it's "their fault" because they didn't give Hawkeye a call.

The original Avengers star confirmed he wouldn't help fight against Doctor Doom's quest to conquer the multiverse during what appears to be a Q&A segment from last month. In a highlight from the interview, captured and shared on X/Twitter by user @drdoomarchive, Renner confirmed that he's "not in" Avengers: Doomsday when it premieres this December.

That might come as a disappointment for fans of his bow-and-arrow hero, especially considering some of his previous teases suggested he may show up in the Marvel Cinematic Universe again. Alas, it seems his long-awaited return as Hawkeye remains on pause. He doesn't seem too bitter about his absence, but that doesn't mean he isn't willing to take a few jabs at the team.

"Doomsday, I'm not in," Renner said. "So, the Avengers will probably lose, just so you know."

He added with a laugh, "They didn't call me, so it's their fault they're gonna lose."

Despite lacking Hulk's superpowered strength or the ability to alter reality like Scarlet Witch, Renner's take on Clint Barton has remained a fan-favorite amongst MCU fans since he first appeared as the character in 2011's Thor. He eventually went on to graduate from that cameo role to be a leading hero in projects like the original Avengers, Avengers: Age of Ultron, and Captain America: Civil War, and he eventually led as the main character in Disney+'s 2021 series, Hawkeye , too.
