One Piece Officially Unveils Luffy's New Sun God Weapons

One Piece Chapter 1197 was officially released on November 1, 2026, in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump Issue 49. This chapter put a lot of focus on the Sun World, where the battles against the Holy Knights are currently raging. After years of waiting, One Piece Chapter 1197 finally gave Sanji the ability of Conqueror's Haki, taking his overall skill to the next level.

At the same time, it also unveiled legendary lore bits pertaining to not just the Void Century, but also the First World, which existed long ago, as confirmed by the Harley in Chapter 1138 on February 3, 2025, in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump Issue 10. It has now been officially confirmed that Luffy has his own two trusted weapons, and these are Zoro and Sanji. Zoro serves the role of Luffy's sword, while Sanji serves the role of Luffy's Sun Shield.

The Sun God Nika of the One Piece world was first name-dropped in chapter 287, which was officially released on August 11, 2003, in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump Double Issue 37-38. However, it wasn't until chapter 1044 of One Piece, which was released on March 28, 2022, in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump Issue 17, that the Sun God Nika descended upon the world and was properly described by Eiichiro Oda.

"Possessing a body with the powers of rubber, and fighting in whatever way he fancies, bringing smiles to the faces of people, the Warrior of Liberation...also known as the Sun God, Nika!" — Elders explain Nika, One Piece Chapter #1044
