Among all the Devil Fruits that exist in the world of One Piece, the one that has piqued the interest of fans the most as of late is the legendary Hito Hito no Mi class. Originally introduced as a standard Zoan, the Hito Hito no Mi has many Mythical types that grant the user godly powers.
In the last stretch of the story, particularly in the Elbaf arc climax that Eiichiro Oda is currently tackling, the Hito Hito no Mi has been expanded upon significantly. Now, we have at least 3 incredibly powerful legendary Hito Hito no Mi models set up in One Piece, including Luffy's very own Nika fruit that continues to evolve as the story progresses.
The very first legendary form of the Hito Hito no Mi that we got to see in One Piece came in the Wano Country arc. In this arc, specifically in One Piece chapter 1044, which was released officially on March 28, 2022, in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump Issue 17, Eiichiro Oda confirmed that Luffy's Gomu Gomu no Mi was actually the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika. This Devil Fruit did not belong to the Paramecia class but was actually a Mythical Zoan. As confirmed by the Five Elders themselves, the power of the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika, is absolutely immense, as it allows the user to tap into the power of the Warrior of Liberation, Sun God Nika.
