Ocarina Of Time Remake Confirmed To Be Nintendo's Mysterious Owl Project

Now that The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake has launched, dataminers have been able to confirm its codename, which was actually discovered some time ago.

Nintendo has to be the most interesting gaming company to follow. Part of that is thanks to its stellar track record and extensive library of beloved series, but it’s mostly because you simply can’t predict what it’s going to do next. It’s been proven time and time again that Nintendo always has more games in the works than you might think.

From Fire Emblem Engage to Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream, there are plenty of examples of Nintendo sitting on games until it’s ready to reveal or release them. You’d think something as big as the Ocarina of Time remake wouldn’t be included in that lineup, but a recent datamine confirms that it was actually found a little over two years ago.

Two years ago, in September of 2024, Twitter user and dataminer OctaDatamine shared a tweet revealing that they’d found a new project name for an EPD5 game. The project was codenamed “Owl”, which led them to believe that it had something to do with Animal Crossing since EPD5 is the team that handles that series.

We finally got a chance to play The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake and it's still one of the best games ever made.

As it turns out, that actually wasn’t the case at all. Earlier today, Twitter user OatmealDome revealed that, through datamining , they’d discovered that the mysterious project Owl is actually the Ocarina of Time remake.
