When My Hero Academia reached its conclusion with its final volume on December 4, 2024, most fans assumed that this was the end of the franchise. However, the ending that Kohei Horikoshi set for his story left the room wide open for a continuation.
Heroes continue to exist in the world of My Hero Academia, and everyone's beloved students are now Pro Heroes themselves. There is plenty of room for a story expansion if Horikoshi ever wills it. Interestingly enough, the author of the series has also already established a successor to none other than Deku. This successor was first established in My Hero Academia chapter 430, but teased long before that, and it is none other than Dai, who is currently looking to enroll in UA’s Hero program.
Kohei Horikoshi's planning for the successor of Izuku Midoriya has quite clearly been meticulous. Dai, who now stands at the forefront of things, was first teased in Chapter 258 of the series, which was released on January 27, 2020, in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump Issue 9. In the Paranormal Liberation War arc, Dai was first seen with his mother back when he was still a first grader. Back then, he was quite clearly a fan of Japan's Number One, Endeavor, and he still had great respect for All Might, as was clearly seen when he walked past his statue in Kamino.
When Dai was first shown to us, it was quite clear to see that this boy had a special charm about him, but it wasn't until the epilogue of the series that this character was expanded upon.
