Miami Vice '85 Pictures Reveal First Look at Michael B. Jordan and Austin Butler in Costume

Universal has revealed first-look pictures of Miami Vice '85 showing Michael B. Jordan as Ricardo Tubbs and Austin Butler as James 'Sonny' Crockett.

The reboot for the classic '80s show, which has been in the works from Top Gun: Maverick director Joseph Kosinski since last year, eased movie fans into Monday with two photos of its stars ahead of its release in 2028. These first photos show Jordan and Butler as their slick title characters, guns in hand.

Both images were shared on social media to celebrate the start of production, meaning there's still plenty of work to do to bring it all together before its big premiere in a few years. You can see both Jordan as Tubbs and Butler as Crockett below.

Per Variety, a description for Miami Vice '85 says the reboot will explore "the glamour and corruption of mid-80's Miami." Its story is "inspired by the pilot episode and first season of the landmark television series that influenced culture and set the style of everything from fashion to filmmaking."

Despite being nearly two years away from speeding onto movie screens, this latest swing at a Miami Vice movie has amassed quite the cast. The Odyssey and original Miami Vice show star John Leguizamo was reportedly cast as the new film's main villain back in September . Fallout and The White Lotus actor Walton Goggins was reportedly added as a second villain just a few weeks ago.
