LEGO Daft Punk Set Officially Announced

Yesterday, at the end of a stream on YouTube, the electronic music duo Daft Punk teased a collaboration with LEGO. Today LEGO confirmed it. A LEGO Daft Punk set is indeed coming soon. The set is based on the stage setup for Daft Punk’s 2007 Alive tour.

Confirmed in a LEGO Ideas blog post, the set sprang from a LEGO Ideas submission from creator RobotRock, which has been sitting in the “Parking Lot” for several years. According to the blog post, “The Parking Lot is where selected Product Ideas get extra review time before a final decision is made.”

LEGO Ideas is a program in which LEGO fans and builders can create their own sets and submit them for consideration to become actual released products. Once a LEGO Ideas submission is approved, the creators of the set work with official LEGO designers to make any changes necessary to turn it into an officially released set.

That’s the step this upcoming LEGO Daft Punk set is currently in. No release date or pricing information is available yet, but we expect to hear more soon.

In a related press release, LEGO also announced a broader LEGO/Daft Punk partnership that hints at more crossovers besides this one set. The partnership even has a video to announce the musicians' entry into the LEGO universe.
