LEGO Astro Bot Set Confirmed as Free Gift with Purchase of PlayStation

As is often the case in the world of LEGO, the rumors were true. A new listing shows that LEGO is giving away an Astro Bot set as a free “Gift With Purchase” to people who buy the upcoming LEGO PlayStation set when it goes on sale in October. LEGO Astro Bot is a 276-piece display set aimed at ages 18+ and will be unavailable to purchase separately.

The Astro Bot set features the boisterous, blue-and-white robot using its laser-induced hovering ability. Astro Bot has translucent blue beams emitting from its feet and is supported by a black stand that also features an Astro Bot logo sign. Despite being made of blocks, the PlayStation mascot looks just as rounded in LEGO form as it does in polygon form.

At 276 pieces, it’s not a very large set, but it should look good displayed next to the LEGO PlayStation set it accompanies.

Speaking of, LEGO PlayStation is a brick-built re-creation of the original PS1 console Sony first launched in Japan in 1994. It’s not available for preorder, but it will be available to purchase on the LEGO Store when it releases on October 1 for anyone with a free LEGO Insiders account, or October 4 for everyone else.

LEGO PlayStation is a near 1:1 scale model of Sony’s classic gray console and its first (stick-less) controller. It has “working” Power and Open buttons, and under the disc lid, you’ll find hidden dioramas of Ape Escape and Gran Turismo.
