I have neither the budget nor the inclination for a crystal encrusted RTX 5090, but Galax is releasing one anyway

Nvidia's RTX 5090 GPU has become particularly elusive lately. In light of swirling rumours, Nvidia promises the 5090 isn't dead but constrained supply and runaway pricing has made it a tough card to track down. So, amidst all of this, what does Palit-owned hardware manufacturer Galax do? Tease a gem-studded edition of the RTX 5090.

The GeForce RTX 5090 Hall of Fame Edition was technically already teased back during Computex, though folks thought this showfloor piece was alluding to a whole new GPU generation at the time. Now, we know this special edition is actually current gen and will feature a GPU shroud encrusted with Swarovski crystals (via Techpowerup).

No price has yet been announced ahead of this exceptionally extra card's slated October 22 release date. With how much a standard RTX 5090 costs, odds are that those planning to scoop this shiny GPU will need very deep pockets indeed.

For context, we've stopped including the RTX 5090 in the graphics card price watch, as our Dave notes the card is 'unavailable' from many reputable retailers. Our Jacob notes that the card can be found in places like Newegg's Marketplace for upwards of $9,000.

Those stones are far from the only Extra feature about this special edition GPU. Like many of Galax's other offerings, it'll be available in a striking white. This card will also enjoy dual 12V-2×6 power connectors, much like other Hall of Fame editions. That'll offer a beefy amount of power headroom.

Anyway, I enjoy aesthetic hardware as much as the next person, but even I can see that Swarovski crystals are a level of excess the RTX 5090 didn't really need.
