How Does Research Work in Planet Zoo 2?

In Planet Zoo 2's Career and Franchise modes, Research is an important mechanic that allows you to provide better care for your animals and better education for your guests. Research is carried out by vets at Research Centers, and the four categories of research are Species, Enrichment, Education, and Disease. Learn how to do this and which research to prioritize when getting your zoo up and running. Unlike the first game, you no longer have to research scenery themes, meaning all building options are unlocked.

There's no Research option in Sandbox mode as everything is already unlocked.

Conversation Projects are an incredible way to progress your zoo in Planet Zoo 2. Here's what you need to know.

When starting a new Franchise mode, players will have nothing researched. However, research will carry over from zoo to zoo as long as they are within the same Franchise. These unlocks are also separate from Career mode, with the same being said of Accreditation in Planet Zoo 2.

The first step is to build a Research Center from the Facilities tab. You can either opt for the basic box or choose one of the blueprint options that use a specific theme. There's also the Frontier Workshop in Planet Zoo 2 where players can upload and download blueprints, including for Research Centers and other staff buildings.

A Large Research Center allows 6 vets to research at once, but it only costs 4 times as much as the Small Research Center, which has a capacity of 1.
