It’s no secret that we have access to more games than ever before, especially when platforms like Steam are dropping 70+ new titles almost daily. Gone are the days of needing to stand in line at your local game store to get your hands on the latest Resident Evil or Assassin’s Creed game (of course, you can still do that), and it’s only getting easier to have thousands of titles at your fingertips.
There are consequences for the level of convenience the digitalization of gaming provides in this day and age, though, both through the immediacy of buying and instantly downloading a game, as well as the extensive library at your disposal through paid subscriptions like PS Plus and Game Pass. In fact, with thousands upon thousands of hours of entertainment available to you at any time, it’s taking some of the excitement away from those new releases we used to wait months for (except, of course, something industry-shaking like GTA 6).
GameRant was invited to London to hear the results of a study conducted by G2A.COM and Newzoo, which explored the purchase behaviors of gamers from the six different countries were assessed. The research included a dive into what we’re buying, when we’re buying it, and what are the biggest influences over our decision to purchase a game. The results of the study were particularly insightful, and paint the picture of a market that no longer has to rely on physical ownership for access.
At any given moment, you can claim free games to keep from Steam, Epic Games Store, Prime Gaming, and more.
