Fortnite Leak Suggests Sprites Are Being Cut From New Chapter

A reliable dataminer has uncovered code that suggests Fortnite might not include Sprites as a game mechanic in its next big Chapter, which I'm sure is amazing news for many.

Over the past year or so, Fortnite has changed in a number of big ways. The AI-generated elephant in the room is one example, but perhaps the most obvious is the introduction and emphasis placed on Sprites. The cute companions were introduced at the start of Chapter 6, and have quickly become a key part of the game.

We’ve come a long way from the simple elemental Sprites of the first season, with tons being added, including some that are themed around collaborations. The recent Sprite Garden made it seem as if they were a permanent fixture of Fortnite, but that might not be the case in the next Chapter.

As reported by Insider Gaming, reliable Fortnite dataminer Blortzen shared a post detailing what they’ve discovered about Sprites from the game’s files. According to them, the files related to extracting Sprites, including the “core one”, are set to leave for the release of Chapter 8, although they will stick around for the game’s next mini-season.

Epic Games has delivered one of Fortnite's best live events yet with the fantastic Zero Hour.

While it’s tough to know what this means just from the code alone, it suggests that Sprites aren’t going to be a game mechanic for the start of Chapter 8. That’s quite a surprise considering how important they’ve become to Fortnite, not only taking on a mascot role, but having lots of abilities and perks tied to them.
