Fans Are Comparing Grand Theft Auto 6′s Latest Trailer To Its First And Complaining That It’s A Blurry ‘Downgrade’

Rockstar Games served us with a new minute-and-a-half-long trailer for Grand Theft Auto 6 yesterday, and it’s got everything—army backstory stuff, a steamy shower sex scene, Jason throwing a dude off of a boat, the guy that says “Grand Theft Auto,” and, most importantly, a very blurry camera lens.

Wait—hold up, I thought the internet was joking about the trailer looking blurry. Turns out, nope, some people are very genuinely concerned about the smudged camera-lens aesthetic featured in the latest trailer for GTA 6, to the point that some are even accusing Rockstar Games of “downgrading” the graphics before launch.

Obviously, what we’re seeing in the latest trailer is an image-processing effect. Real ones will know that this effect is commonly referred to as a Gaussian blur, which, not to brag but, I knew off the top of my head. My film degree is really paying for itself at this point.

Look, I’m pretty certain Rockstar Games knows better than to feed everyone a bunch of fake trailers for what may be the most highly anticipated game of all time. You don’t have to cancel your digital preorders just yet.

Besides, as many have already pointed out online, this is likely just a setting that players can toggle on and off. Red Dead Redemption II had a bunch of filters like this, so don’t worry, the marketing department just wanted to be a little artsy this time around.
