DC’s Mister Miracle Animated Series Lead Voices Confirmed

DC’s upcoming animated series Mister Miracle will star Josh Hutcherson (The Hunger Games, Five Nights at Freddy’s) as Scott Free and Mackenzie Davis (Speak No Evil, Terminator: Dark Fate) as Big Barda. The news comes via DC Studios co-CEO Peter Safran himself, speaking with IGN in an interview published earlier today.

Safran also noted showrunner Tom King has written all eight episodes of the series himself. King, a prolific DC author, created the 12-issue, Eisner Award-winning 2017 Mister Miracle series alongside artist Mitch Gerads. That comic forms the basis for this upcoming animated series.

“I think that Tom King really learned a lot in his season of co-creating and executive producing Lanterns and he adapted his book Mister Miracle fully on his own, wrote all eight episodes and I think it’s just dynamite,” said Safran. “Josh Hutcherson as Scott Free and Mackenzie Davis as Big Barda. And I just think it’s a book that I’ve always loved and I remember Tom telling us early on that, every convention he goes to, at least a couple people come up to him and say this book saved my life and I love that we got to tell that story over eight episodes.”

A network or arrival date for Mister Miracle is yet to be discussed.

For its part, it’s not yet confirmed whether Lanterns is a lock for a second season, but Safran confirmed that a potential future for that series is currently being hashed out, depending on whether they can find a story worthy of following up the first season.
