A dataminer has seemingly uncovered a scrapped, half-finished cutscene buried in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, and the specific appearance of a character named Miko more than implies that said cutscene could have served as a teaser for some sort of Assassin’s Creed III prequel.
Unfortunately, you can’t currently watch the video for yourself, as Ubisoft allegedly just issued a copyright strike against it. The scrapped cutscene in question, which was uncovered by Sliderv2, features Edward Kenway walking into a bar and conversing with Miko. For context, Miko is the co-founder of the British Brotherhood of Assassins, which primarily featured in Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate. After Miko states that he “put out a call to the wider Brotherhood,” the scene then cuts to Adéwalé.
While the appearance of Adéwalé might lead you to assume that this is teasing something related to Assassin’s Creed: Freedom Cry, which was originally included in Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag’s season pass in 2013, users on the r/GamingLeaksAndRumours subreddit pointed out an interesting discrepancy in the unused cutscene’s dialogue. Coincidentally, said thread was “removed by Reddit’s filters” at the same time as Sliderv2’s video was hit by Ubisoft.
The cutscene opens with Miko telling Edward that “The king is dead.” Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced ends in 1722, and Freedom Cry begins in 1735–the same year that Edward canonically dies. This means that the only “King” Miko could be referring to here is George I of Great Britain, who died in 1727.
As for why this might imply that Ubisoft is planning some sort of Assassin’s Creed III prequel, that part is simple: Haytham Kenway, Assassin’s Creed III’s antagonist and the son of Edward Kenway, was born in 1725.
